"The Advent of the Holy Spirit" Series.
30 / 490.
"The Advent of the Holy Spirit" series has a total of 490 works, exploring theological "Dual Spiritual Reality".
When the Holy Spirit comes to the believer, the believer has two personalities, facing the "Dual Spiritual Reality": the battle between the "flesh" and the "new creation."
From the perspective of the universe, black is the essence of the universe, that is, the true face of the universe. If the pigment absorbs all visible light in the spectrum and does not reflect the light of any color, the human eye feels black. Therefore, the black "essentiality" type in this series typifies the "new creation" born of the Holy Spirit - the "essence" of believers.
The greater the proportion of the "new creation", it indicates that the believer is more and more detached from the "flesh", put on "new creation", and grows up more and more on the road to sanctification.
However, the thorny road to sanctification is long and distant. Believers will always have moments of fall and failure. Facing their unholy behavior, believers will often be weak and doubt themselves.
Although the Holy Spirit gave birth to a new life of "new creation" in the believer, the believer's "flesh" still exists. When a believer is considerate of the "flesh”, the Holy Spirit will worry and blame the believer. As long as the "flesh" remains, believers cannot be completely holy and they even want to do unholy things. This contradiction is "Dual Spiritual Reality".
As Saint Paul said:
"I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.(Or my flesh) For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do - this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me.For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature(Or in the flesh) a slave to the law of sin."
Therefore, when the believer looks at the unholy behavior of the "flesh" with the eyes of the "new creation" saint, he will blame himself and be sad. This is what the Bible says believers "suffer in the body."
But -
The path to sanctification is the process from "one" to "one hundred", but from "zero" to "one" is a fundamental change. As long as there is "one", it will never return to "zero."
No matter how many times a believer falls, and no matter how small the "new creation" is, the "new creation" will never disappear.
"Jesus answered, 'I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times (Or seventy times seven).'"
Seven is a complete number in the Bible. Jesus asked Peter to forgive his brother "seventy times seven", the practical significance was to ask Perter to completely forgive others for unlimited times. Therefore, although the "490" of this series is equal to “seventy times seven”, it indicates the "unlimited forgiveness". When the Holy Spirit comes to the believer, no matter how much "new creation" prevails or loses in the battle between the "flesh" and the "new creation", no matter how the believer falls, He will never disappear and give infinitely forgiveness to the believer.
In this series, I try to elaborate my understanding of this theological concept, as well as explore and think about the dynamic relationship between life, growth, holiness, forgiveness and eternity.
